Then next morning, Dakai knocked on Kyoko's door. She groaned softly and said that she was decent, so Dakai simply popped his head. "I'm going to check things out with the other partials. If you want to meet for lunch, I'll be at a place called 'The Light Shadow' near the back."
Kyoko nodded and rolled back over to go back to sleep as Dakai softly closed the door and left. The moment he opened the door was sunrise. Dakai smiled as he felt the gentle rays of the sun hit his tan skin.
The Chao's happiness was broken when a human walked by and let out a growl when he saw Dakai's pitch black eyes. Dakai rolled his eyes and walked to the Chao guild. As soon as he walked in, Dakai felt complete, or he thought he did. His thoughts drifted back to his recent experiences with Kyoko. The Chao shook his head and walked to the guild leader, a Chao named Viatru, while trying to convince himself that he was going through a phase.
Viatru smiled to Dakai, her gentle blue eyes looking up to the man. "Welcome back, Darkness," she greeted him using the name that he had gotten since joining the guild two years ago.. "It's been longer than usual. I expected you here last month at the latest."
Dakai shrugged and tossed a small back of silver onto the table. "Four months of searching for him and still the father of the partials." They both sighed and Dakai pulled out a sphere filled with a black cloud. "Farthenway...He only goes where he wants and is only seen when he wants to be. Not like before his first death...What changed in him? Why can't I find him?"
Viatru sighed and gently shook her head. "I don't know, Dardar," the woman said using her personal pet name for him. She had been almost like a second mother to him, so he never minded having a pet name with her.
"Oh, and I almost forgot." Viatru pulled out two golden bracelets and put them on the table. Dakai grabbed them and gently pulled them to his chest. "Thank you."
Viatru smiled and shrugged happily. "It was just a refurbishing. Most of it was just cleaning. The only hard part was getting your parent's names smoothed out right." Dakai nodded and went to walked away, but Viatru tapped her desk, which meant that she wasn't done. "Dakai. I heard that somebody saw you and an Earth Dari walk into your usual inn last night. Somebody thinks that it might be the royal knight's daughter. who recently went missing. They say that she was last seen with a Chao. I just want you to be careful. If she's with you, then...I don't know. Just promise that you won't do anything rash. The royal knight is tolerant to Chao, but he's not our biggest fan."
Dakai sighed and nodded. "The girl's been a pain, Viavi, but...I think she's not going to be that much of a burden if she is who you say she might be. She kinda kissed me yesterday morning."
Viatru shook her head is disdain and gently stood up. "Don't get hurt, now go. I haven't heard any rumors about Farthenway. You'll be the first to know. Drop your ball in the hole when you leave."
Dakai nodded and did as he was told. It was still three hours before lunch, so he started to walk around town, thinking about all that he was going to do while he was in town.
An hour after Dakai left the inn, Kyoko woke up and got dressed. The first thing she did was go to a pub to get some eggs and bacon. The pub was called 'True Light' and half of the building had only humans, and the other half was filled with Dari. It was a segregated pub, and what made it worse was the fact that there was a sign that said 'No Chao Allowed'. Kyoko wasn't able to see anything, but she felt the tension in the building, and she didn't like it at all.
Kyoko ate hastily and left, never wanting to be a part of that world ever again. Shortly after she walked out of the pub, Kyoko was stopped by a voice that she recognized. "Kyoko? Kyoko, it's you!"
Kyoko stopped abruptly, not ready to deal with anything that had to do with her father. "Markis...What are you doing here?"
Markis shook his head and walked closer to Kyoko. "Your father is looking for you. How'd you escape that monster? I've never heard of anyone surviving much after being taken by a Chao."
Kyoko growled softly and clenched her fists. "He's not a monster. He's a real man, unlike the Dari back home. If you came to take me home, forget it. I'm twenty years old, so Daddy can't pull me back. He HAS to let me live out on my own according me to the laws that he forces all of the humans and Dari live by. Now, goodbye. I'll contact him when anything happens, so he'll know what's going on, but other than that, he has no part in my life until I want it." She left, not letting Markis respond at all.
When it was time for lunch, Kyoko went to The Light Shadow and saw Dakai right away, but something was different. He wore two, thick golden bracelets. They were at least three inches think all around, yet Dakai looked as though it was nothing for him to have them on. "Dakai...when...did you get those?"
Dakai gently traced bracelet with the tips of the fingers of the other hand. "This is all that's left of my parents. When they were killed, I consumed them and instead of taking in their powers, I forced them out as these bracelets. The left one has my father's name embedded on the inside, and the right has my mother's name. I was told that if I didn't do that, I'd have more control of my chaos. Most Chao control how their chaos works. They still have to follow the rules of chaos magic, but not as extreme as I do. I have some control, but it's hard. I've learned most of it, but there are times when it does things that I didn't think it would."
Kyoko nodded gently and sat next to Dakai at his table. "That's so sweet, Dakai. I didn't think that people could do that with chaos." Dakai gently shook his head and smiled. "It was the last thing that I had complete control over."
Kyoko sighed and looked to Dakai. "I saw one of my old protectors. My father wants me to go home. I told him that I'm happy with the way you treat me. You're nothing like what I was told, Dakai." She looked down and blushed softly. "I was halfway tempted to tell him that I'd fallen in love."
Dakai's eyes widened as his face turned bright red. "W-why?" Kyoko smiled and leaned over to kissed Dakai's cheek. "Because, I don't want anybody connected to my father to know just yet."
Dakai's face turned even brighter as another Chao walked up and set down two glasses of a dark red liquid. "Blood berry juice to get you started. I'll be back in a few minutes for your food." She looked to Dakai then to Kyoko. "You're a lucky girl. He always stops here when he's in town, and you're the first person other than the guild leader that he's ever ate with, so you must be special."
That didn't help take away the redness on Dakai's face.

Comments
Dakai's explanation kind of leaves me curious as to why he didn't consume his parents -- because that would destroy them? Not that it's much better to be stuck in a gold bracelet, I think. Maybe I'm just not understanding the process, there.
Still, it does explain a bit of his demeanor...though it's nice to see that he hasn't spent his whole life just wandering friendless, that he kind of has a home base and an anchor/role model.
So far I think I'm liking this story the best of the ones you've posted. Still gotta catch up with the new stuff (work is still crazy...I am actually supposed to be running data loads at the moment, so yeah).

For example, what does it mean to "not accept" one's death? In today's popular folklore, that's the commonly accepted reason for ghosts, so quite a few folks might think of that when they read that phrase. Which I suspect is not what you're going for.
And what happens to a consumed soul? Do they lose their identity? pass their thoughts or feelings or memories or power on to the one who consumes them? are they dead? do they move on to an afterlife, after the consuming?
These are the kind of basics you need to lay out early on so your readers understand what your terminology means -- you don't have to cover unusual cases like Dakai's parents right away, but you at least need your readers not to be saying "consumed? huhwhat?"
That way, when you DO get to this kind of unusual variation of it, your readers have a basic understanding to build on.
