Destiny's Flaw - Shilly's Prologue
All across the world of Edge a single man, his features hidden under his black cloak, puts up notices of a tournament that is to start within the next few weeks. All who want to join are invited, but only if they are willing to fight with all of their might. Nobody can join if they aren't sure that they can go all out in combat. More was to be posted as time passed by.
A human warrior named Shilly growled as she looked at her new assignment from the guild. She was, once again supposed to guard some rich man who thought he was being targeted by an assassin from a rival family or company or whatever. Shilly was tired of getting misisons that rarely gave her any combat experience. She didn't get why she never had any good missions.
Some thought that she had come from Distaria, because Shilly had black eyes like the Chao beings of old, but she always made a point to make sure people saw her bright red hair proving that she wasn't from Distaria. Shilly's family had always been humans. It dated back to even before the Chao beings were wiped out in Aspira. Shilly was very proud of her heritage, and nobody could prove that she was anything other than what she was.
Shilly sighed and looked around as she grabbed her broad sword to sheath it. As the girl walked outside to get ready for her mission, she noticed people at the notice board. "What the heck?" Shilly asked as she went over to look at what all the chatter was about. When she finally got to the front, Shilly saw the notice.
It was for a competition that was to take place in an abandoned city of Farsgate. "Wait...Farsgate...Isn't that the place they made to try to get people from all three continents together? Why do a tournament there?"
She looked over the notice again when she saw the prizes for those who got far enough into the competition. "Fifty thousand trivates for those who make it into the final four. That's a lot of money, and maybe if I get through it, I'll be able to get some respect here."
The moment Shilly finished talking to herself, Darve, the leader of the warrior's guild, walked up to the girl and sighed. "Shilly, your assignment's been terminated. The client said that he wanted to be protected by somebody with more experience in combat."
Shilly slammed her fist against the notice board then looked to Darve. "I'm going to be gone for a while. I'll be training for a competition, and I don't know when I'll be back." Darve nodded and put a hand on Shilly's shoulder. "Just be carefull. Don't die on me."
Shilly nodded back and went to go train at home, waiting for the competition to begin. "I will do this. I have to make sure that I don't lose."
For the next three weeks, Shilly trained from dawn until dusk, working on her skills. When the time came for the competition to begin, Shilly felt as though she was ready for whatever came her way.
