Erden looked around, making sure that he was out sight from most of the world and sighed. He used his energy to create a large amount of water that slowly formed into a temporary clone of himself. It looked just like him, from his blue hair and pure white eyes, to his green t-shirt and blue jeans. The clone looked to his creator then down to the ground where Roshetta and Kathrine lay bleeding. Both Erdens' sighed and pressed their hands to his friends' stomachs, the real to Kathrine, the clone to Roshetta.
The energy around the wizard and his clone slowly started to become denser, giving a slight blue tint as it pushed into the fallen. After a few minutes, the water clone vanished, and the real Erden pulled out his cell phone to call 911 emergency. He told them what had happened, and they dispatched an ambulance to the scene.
The ambulance took about eight minutes to get there, giving Erden enough time to hide his friends' blades. While he waited, Erden turned Roshetta's sword back into a key chain, and attached it to the boy's backpack. He looked to Kathrine, putting her knives into her backpack, before taking both her and Roshetta's backpacks.
Moments later, the ambulance arrived, ready to take Kathrine and Roshetta to the hospital. The rescue team, quickly put the two on stretchers and got them into the back, while they had Erden sit up front. Erden obliged to their request and sighed as he sat down in the passenger's seat of the ambulance.
The driver looked to Erden and smiled, as he drove off, away from the alleyway and to the hospital. "So your friends took a beatin' huh? Looks like it could have been much worse, though. I didn't get a chance to get the details on what happened. They just told me to get here, and I did. So what did happen?"
Erden sighed and shook his head. He couldn't tell this man the truth. It'd look like he was just making up a wild story to avoid people from thinking he was the one who had hurt his friends. "We were on our way back from school, when these two guys blocked out path, not letting us go on, no matter what we did to try and get by. Kathrine noticed the alleyway, so we rushed off, trying to escape these men. But they weren't alone, like we had thought. There was another man, who was parked so that we couldn't get through. The men stabbed both Roshetta and Kathrine and tried to go for me, but I evaded them and escaped long enough for them to go away. The moment that I saw the car leave, I rushed in to check on my friends, and then I called 911."
The driver nodded as he turned into the hospital. "Well, lets see that they make it through. The big guy looks like he took most of the damage."
Erden smiled and looked to the driver. "Yeah, that sounds like Roshetta. He'd never just sit back and watch as his friends got hurt. I just wish I knew what to do when it happened."
The man shrugged as the ambulance came to a stop. "You called for help. Because of you, your friends are going to survive. You saved their lives, by making sure that you lived."
The rescue team rushed Kathrine and Roshetta to the emergency room, where they immediately started to stitch both of them up. Erden sat in the nearby hallway and dropped the backpacks in a chair. While he waited, Erden talked with a nurse who was on her brake. She introduced herself as Bethany, but she insisted to be called Bethy. The woman had soft hazel-green eyes, with light, dirty blond hair.
The nurse looked down at Erden and smiled. "So how did you meet your friends? Was it in school, or was it your parents who met first?"
Erden shook his head and smiled, glad to no be talking about the incident. "Well to be honest, we just kinda ran into each other. We didn't have any of the same classes until after we met, but we did meet at school. There was this play going on, and I was in charge of the props and special effects. Roshetta got the leading role, while Kathrine played in as a minor role. They worked really well together though, and they bickered less than the other cast members. Though, I don't think they really get along much. They just didn't want to waste their time."
Bethy nodded softly and sighed happily. "So, how exactly did it happen? Like, what caused the friendship to start?"
Erden laughed softly and looked up. "It's because of me. Roshetta didn't have a lot of friends, mostly because he had a hard time trusting people. But with me it was different. He knew that he could count on me. I don't know why though. He always says that it's because he doesn't want the blindest kid in school to be alone. That was before Kathrine came to me though."
"Huh?" Bethy said, obviously confused. Erden just giggled and shook his head. "After the play, Kathrine and I didn't talk very much. She seemed a bit shy in the following months, but then it was the last week of school, and her parents were taking her on a vacation for the next two weeks. There were two days left in school when she ran up to me and kissed me, tears falling down her eyes. She told me everything. She had a crush on me since we first saw me. She thought it was just pity for me being blind, but as time passed on, she wanted to try to get to know me. She started talking with me a little, but it wasn't anything really noticeable. When she kissed me, I didn't know what to do but she gave me a note that she wanted me to read the following Monday."
Bethy smiled, getting really into the love story. "So, what did it say? Was it a love note, saying her deepest most intimate feelings for you?"
Erden shook his head and sighed happily. "No. The letter was everything that she wanted me to know about her. Her favorite things in life, what she wants to do when she gets older, her personality flaws, and her hobbies. What interested me the most was her martial arts training and her love for baking. I always wanted to have somebody to train with, but Roshetta's more into Medieval swords and using them, than training in martial arts. And on the baking, I just like baked goods, and Kathrine makes the best I've ever tasted. It practically melts in my mouth."
The nurse giggled softly as a doctor walked up to Erden. "Hello. Would you like to see your friends for a few minutes?" Erden nodded and followed the doctor to Roshetta and Kathrine's room.
Roshetta slowly lifted himself up and smiled weakly. "You just wouldn't let me die would you?" He looked to Kathrine and sighed. "Though I don't blame you for saving, Kathrine. They said that her damage was much worse than mine, but I looked worse than she did."
Erden nodded and sat between the two. "Yeah, the ambulance driver said that you looked worse. They got more cheap shots in on you though. You know, we're going have to describe them, right?"
Roshetta sighed and nodded his head. "Yeah I know. I don't know what I'm going to say though. I can get off on the whole, I can't remember, because it was a traumatic event thing. But you, you can't use that, can you?"
Erden laughed and shook his head. "True, but I'm blind, remember? Though it did take you awhile to learn that I had a very special way of seeing."
Roshetta looked to Kathrine again, then smiled at Erden. "I remember that day."
