EDGE's Roaner 2: Distrust by =forbiddenhero:iconforbiddenhero:

Chapter 2: Distrust

The next morning, in the town of Norkia, a young woman wearing a red shirt is sitting on a log and looking up to the sky. She sighs as a man in a blue tunic walks in. "Kathrine, why is it that everytime I see you,

you're sitting here looking up. Your hero isn't going to find you."
Kathrine looks at her friend and sighs again. "You can't blame a girl for trying." She gets up and stretches. "I still think he's going to come. I don't know why, but I have this feeling that he's going to come back to me.

Oh well. Lets go Tros."
Tros smiles and walks to Kathrine's house. He looks up and sighs. "Why you got the largest house in town, I will never know."
Kathrine shrugs and shakes her head. "Don't blame me. My dad bought it, and gave it to me when him and mother left. Now come on. We have a lot to do today. I don't want to get behind on our orders." They walk in

and go directly to the kitchen. "Lets get to baking, my friend. Now what all do we have to do today?" The girl asks as she starts getting out bowls, spoons and other cooking utensils.
Tros grabs a peice of parchment and reads, "Hmmmm. We have twelve dozen buns to do. Half go to the Lord's Ball, and the rest are to be distributed amoung the Freethars. Bleh. I can't stand them. Anyways. The Lord's Ball

also needs our best sugary delights? What? Are they too good to say cakes and muffins? Oh well. Now we have...Ok now this isn't fair at all."
Kathrine looks over from the cupboard. "What's that? Did someone ask for Blood Berry Muffins again?"
Tros sighs and says, "No. My family is requesting the Golden Fruit Pie. You know how much I love those. Oh well. They usually pay really well.
Back in Correnarn, Roshetta slowly gets up out of his bed and sighs. "I need to get to work. Because of yesterday, I'm behind in my chores." He grabs his sword and goes to the front of the house where Erden is asleep

on the floor. "Hmmmmm." Roshetta goes to their well and pulls out the bucket. He sticks his hand in and shivers. "Good it's cold." Roshetta takes the bucket inside and tosses the water right at Erden, but the water floats for a second

as a smile crosses Erden's face. The water then hits Roshetta all over his body. "ERDEN!!! I thought you were asleep!!! How dare you trick me like that!"
Erden gets up and stretches. "I have no clue what you're talking about. I didn't trick you at all. You just failed to notice my alertness." The wizzard smiles and picks up his staff, putting it on his back. "I can't believe our

plan backfired on us. I had to make a new top, and everything."
Roshetta raises an eyebrow to his friend and says, "If you can make a good shirt like that, why don't you make better pants. I mean, it looks like you're wearing a dress.
Erden sighs, and shakes his head. "I don't know how to make legs, Roshetta, and I have to cover my legs somehow." Erden walks over to the kitchen and pulls a chunk of break off of the loaf. He starts to eat it right as

someone knocks on the door. "Rophetta gould vu vit dat?"
Roshetta smiles as he opens the door, letting in the a tall, slender man with a very anxious look on his face. "Ah Truvar how are -"
"Is it true? Is it true?" Truvar asks.
Roshetta looks at the Truvar like he's crazy, and asks, "Is what true?"
Truvar looks right in Roshetta's eyes and loud asks, "Does Erden wear a bra?"
Erden chokes on bread then yells, "Do I WHAT!!!" Truvar runs over to Erden and tries to take off his shirt. "Stop that!!!" Erden screams as he keeps Truvar from pulling up the wizzard' green tunic-like shirt. "No I don't wear

a bra! Why the heck would you even ask?"
Truvar sighs and gives up on removing Erden's shirt. "Yesterday afternoon, somebody said that you were covering your chest like you were trying to hide something. The only reason anyone could come up with, was

that you had a bra, and you didn't want us to know."
Erden looks right into Truvar's eyes as he sternly says, "I make my own clothes, and I don't know how to make bras. I've had women who have asked me. I do not and will not ever were a bra."
Truvar shrugs and starts to leave. When he reaches the door, the man says, "I'd get to the courthouse if I were you. They'll be talking about you right after they decide what they're going to do about the knights that

have been seen coming this way, and from the sounds of it, your streaking yesterday concerns a lot of people."
Erden rushes out the door, almost knocking Truvar down, and heads right for the courthouse. "What in the world was I thinking, when I bought those fireworks?" he asks himself. "I should have know that the old man

would have smacked them back. It doesn't matter what you do, old man Cordian has a way to defend himself against it. I can't stand that man. His cat is loud, his magic is annoying, and he won't show me how to use my magic

more fluently." Erden sighs as he stops right in front of the courthouse.
Inside the courthouse, the ten village leaders are discussing what to do about recent knight sightings. At the judge's seat, is an older man with a scruffy white beard, and gray shirt and pants. On his left are four men

dressed in mostly pale colors with heights from 5'4" to 6'3" On the other side are four similar men and a younger male with long black hair and black clothes. "OK men," says Crova, the eldest of the group. "If what we've heard is

true, the knights should be here shortly. What they want is still unknown, but we can't take any risks. If anyone sees anything odd or out of the ordinary please tells us immediatly. Now on to more local business. As of yesterday

afternoon, one Erden Nightish was thought to have been wearing ladies undergarmets. Personally, I've always thought the boy to be very odd already. Not one that this village can count on. He's more likely to be messing around

with the dark chain blade weilding freak we know as Roshetta. We all remember the pain and suffering that he cause only three years ago, and yet he still lives here in Correnarn? I say that we exile Roshetta and Erden from

town for the span of two years.
Axis, the youngest of the group stands up and says, "I second your proposal, but I think that we should wait a week for the final decision. If they mess up in that week, they're gone for good no matter what."
Crova nods in agreement and asks, "Does anybody second Axis's proposal?"
At that moment, Erden storms in to the middle of the courtroom and yells, "I do NOT wear a bra!" He then stomps out of the courthouse and walks back towards his home.
A dark smile crosses Axis's face. "With an outburst like that, would you want him to return?"
"That's enough, Axis," says Cordian. "They'll be gone soon enough. No need for you to join them."
"You can't do that!" the dark haired boy yells. "Right?"
Leviath, the tall man with brown hair with a muscular build pounds his hands on the table. "I can't stand this anymore!" He yells as everyone else looks at him in awe. "How long have those knights been in the area? It's

been three weeks. The knights that we've seen are always in the same general area. Personally, I think it's a ruse to hide scouts.
Everyone looks around the room as they hear a soft clap. "Bravo," says a voice from the shadows. "You figured it out." A brown haired man in black armor steps out from the rooms corner. "Now where's Roaner?"
Meanwhile, Erden arrives at his home and looks towards the forest. "Hmm," he ponders. "Roshetta, have you finished gathering wood for today?"
"Yeah, and I've been waiting for your lazy butt to get home, so I can check on the water level in the well," Roshetta says from behind Erden.
Erden turns around to see his friend hanging upside down from his chain blade, while it hovers in midair. "Woah!" Erden yells. "Sheesh, Roshetta, do you have to scare me like that? It's still weird seeing you like that. I

always think that you're about to fall or something. It's just plain freaky"
Roshetta smiles brightly. "You're just jealous, cuz you can't do it."
"And the only reason you can do it, is because you the chain blade," Erden responds. "If I had a magical sword with an eight foot long chain, I'd be able to do all that you can."
Roshetta sighs and says, "Well, if I had spent the last two years studying the magical attributes of water, made a wizzard's staff, and made a pact with spirits that contol water, then I'd be able to do all that you can, and

maybe even more."
"Yeah well we didn't," Erden comments, "So we'll just have to deal with it. Now will you please get your feet on the ground?"
"Sure," Roshetta says as he smoothly slips off his sword and graps it as his feet his the ground. As Roshetta connects the end of his chain to a connecting chain link that's on his pants, a child screams in fear on the

other side of town.
Erden looks over to Roshetta who nods. Second later they're both running as fast as they can to the source of the scream. They stop right in front of the Doodarmia's house. "I don't like the looks of this at all," Erden

comments. The boys duck down right as long knight sords silently pass over their heads. Roshetta trips the Knight closest to him as Erden surrounds the other one in water then freezes it, leaving only his head and neck free to move. Roshetta pins the first knight down and asks with obvious anger in his voice, "What are you doing in Correnarn?"
The kight strugles to get free, but gives up after he realizes that Roshetta is the strong of the two. "We're on a mission to find a kill a man named Roaner?"
Roshetta looks at the knight in shock. "Who on Earth is Roaner? It sounds like an ale to me? In fact just thinking about the name makes me thirsty. Erden, when we're done, lets see if we can get something to drink."
Erden sighs and rolls his eyes. He then asks the knight that's almost completely frozen, "Why did you think that this Roaner character was in Correnarn?"
The knight spits at Erden, but the young wizard uses his magic to make the spit go back and hit the knight's right eye. "Ouch! How the bloody heck did you do that?"
"I'm a water wizard you idiot!" Erden yells. "Didn't you notice the ice encased around your body? Now tell me. Why did you thing Roaner was in this town?"
"It was written on a prophetic scroll," the frozen knight says. "So we know he's here, and when the others find him, they're going to get rid of him, so that he can't destroy the knights and take over the kingdom."
"There's nobody named Roaner in this town," Erden remarks. "I think you might be early or something."
"Yeah," Roshetta says in a distasteful way. "So you better just get your fithy butts out of here, before we kick them out."
"Oh and just how do you plan on doing that?" a third night asks with his sword already up to Roshetta's neck.
Roshetta smiles and says, "With my sword of course." Roshetta slyly trips the third knight while drawing his chain blade and putting his left foot to the first knight's neck. A clicking sound is heard as Roshetta removes the rest of the chains from the connecting chain link on his pants. "Now get out of our town before we're forced to hurt you."
The knight backs away and heads out of town. "Stupid kids. You'll get what's coming to you."
Roshetta and Erden leave their defeated foes to find the rest of the knights. They stop at the courthouse which is now a pile of wood and stone. "This does not look good at all, Erden," Roshetta says. "Lets hurry before they do more damage."
They're about to go towards Cordian's house when the rest of the knights block thier path. "You boys are the last two people in town, so one of you must be Roaner. Which one of you is it?" asks the head knight.
"We're not your freaking Roaner!" yells Roshetta. "We are Roshetta and Erden. Got it!"
The head knight nods to the others, and they charge at the boys. Roshetta glances back and sees more knights coming from behind. "Shoot. Erden, we're out numbered. I don't think we can do this."
Erden sighs. "Fly up to the sky and drop down as fast as you can. We're gonna flood them out," Erden explains.
Roshetta looks at his friend in shock. "Are you serious? I thought you didn't want to do that in town,"
"I don't think we have much of a choice now do we?" Erden replies. Roshetta nods and jumps on his chain blade to fly up to the sky as Erden creates a enough water to form a small lake. "NOW!" Roshetta flies right into the water making a tidal wave in every direction.
As the water magically seeps into the ground, the knights slowly stand up. "You boys haven't heard the last of us," The head knight says as he quickly limps out of town. "Now lets get back to our horses so we can tell the king what we found out."
Roshetta and Erden smile as they put their weapons away. "I think that was a success, don't you Roshetta?"
"No, boys," The leader of town says. "I want you both to pack up and leave town by morning."
"What?" Roshetta questions, "Why?"
The man sighs and looks at the young warrior. "The knights are going to come back for revenge, and I don't want anything to happen because you guys had to play hero."
Roshetta goes to charge at his elder, but Erden stops him. "We have no choice, Roshetta. Lets just go home." Roshetta sighs and the boys head home for the last time.

It's over a month early. :D I can't believe how much I worked on it today. It's not as long as I hoped, so I think each chapter's gonna be shorter than I hope, so I'm going to be making sections as well. The first section is going to be called "Two boys and an unknown threat" Enjoy
-edit-Ok well I'm having a few problems with the text system on DA, so please be patient while I fix the errors. -edit-
